Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir | April 21, 2025 — The aftermath of the recent Pahalgam terror attack continues to send shockwaves across the nation. Earlier today, coffins carrying the mortal remains of the victims arrived at Srinagar Airport, where a solemn atmosphere took over the entire terminal.
On Sunday afternoon, a deadly IED explosion took place near the Laripora area of Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in South Kashmir. The explosion was allegedly carried out by suspected militants, targeting civilians and security personnel.
3 people were killed in the blast.
7 others were injured, with two still in critical condition.
Today’s visuals from Srinagar Airport were heartbreaking. As the coffins arrived, wrapped in the Indian tricolour, security personnel, officials, and families of the deceased paid their final respects.
Chants of “Shaheed Amar Rahein” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” echoed as tears rolled down the cheeks of mourning relatives and bystanders.
Senior Army officers, CRPF personnel, and government officials gave a guard of honour to the martyrs. The Jammu & Kashmir administration coordinated with the Indian Air Force to ensure the bodies are flown back to their respective hometowns.
Security forces have sealed the area of the attack, and a massive manhunt is underway. According to top intelligence sources:
“We suspect involvement of a known terror group active in South Kashmir. Intercepts are being analyzed and operations are in full swing.”
The incident has drawn strong reactions from across the political spectrum:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: “Deeply pained by the attack in Pahalgam. My condolences to the families of the deceased. We will not let their sacrifice go in vain.”
Home Minister Amit Shah assured that “those responsible will be brought to justice.”
Opposition parties also expressed grief and urged the government to take firm action against terrorism.
The deceased individuals’ bodies will be transported to their native towns via special aircraft, arranged by the Ministry of Defence. Local administrations in the respective states have been notified to receive the remains and coordinate last rites with full honours.
The Pahalgam terror attack is a grim reminder of the security challenges that still persist in parts of Jammu & Kashmir. As the nation mourns the loss, the demand for justice and stronger anti-terror action grows louder.
